Everyone wave as we watch 2016 go away. I don't know about you, but I'm actually extremely happy for it to be a new year. I'm very excited to start things off fresh and new! I always am excited about the start of things. This year is going to be a very busy and exciting one. I have so many plans for Kaylee Writes I'm eager to share with you all. Plus, I'm getting married in December! I'm starting a monthly Wedding the Write Way segment and will be updating you on all of the ongoings there. If you're interested in seeing or hearing more, please feel free to contact me. I am more than happy to talk weddings. :)
Back to 2017
Now that I've gushed about my wedding, I want to get back to 2017 and the awesomeness to come. After a lot of brainstorming, planning, and outlining, I've come up with 5 personal goals and 10 business goals for this year. It's going to be a lot of hard work, but I am ready to take it all head on. I even got a word for this year!
Last year's word was Lean. I wanted to lean out my life - the work I was wanting to do, the stuff in our house, my weight, and the amount of other people's content I consumed. While I wasn't absolutely successful, I was able to get rid of a majority of useless things during our move and I completely scaled back the amount of other people's content I consumed. While I wasn't able to change every aspect of my life, like I had hoped, I was able to positively affect it.
My 2017 word of the year is MINDSET. I'm using the word mindset to help me get in the right frame of mind. To be able to get healthy, grow my business, improve my relationship, and practice more self-respect, I have to be in the right mindset. I am inviting personal development, good habits, and focus, while letting go of my excuses, chaos, distractions, and laziness. I actually found a quote which relates perfectly to this situation, "To change your life, you have to change yourself. To change yourself, you have to change your mindset."
My mindset is going to completely affect how many goals I completely. I understand that and will be constantly reminding myself daily of it's importance. I have had a lot of goals and plans go unfulfilled because I haven't taken the time to get in the right state of mind. A change in my attitude and the way I think about my goals will go a long way to help me get to where I want to go.
Goals + Plans
Back to those goals I mentioned. I have 5 personal goals and 10 business goals. Now, I have very specific goals for my business, but I am going to make them very generic on here. The reason being, I don't want to spoil any surprises for the new projects I have coming out this year. It's like a parent giving a kid a present for Christmas. I'm very excited to give it to you, but I want you to wait until it's that "Christmas time!"
Here are my personal goals:
- Take four overnight trips with my fiance by the New Year
- Lose 40 pounds by November
- Read 20 books by the New Year
- Publish blog posts 4 times a month for each month
- Pay off $5,000 in debt (I'm working to bump this number up, but this is the minimum)
- Get married!!! (I'm secretly most excited about this one)
Now for my business goals:
- Sign 15 clients
- Sell 250 passes to my upcoming course
- Sell 500 books (hardcover or eBook)
- Gain 4,000 subscribers
- Have 1,000 consistent pageviews
- Sell 20 memberships
- Sell 25 all-access passes
- Sell 5 retreat passes
- Schedule 1 year's worth of content
- Gain 2,000 downloads of my challenge
Again, my business goals are all super generic and hopefully the surprises won't be spoiled too early. For those who are interested, I used Lisa Jacob's Your Best Year 2017 workbook and a ton of the bullet journal goal layouts to help me get to where I am today. I have to say Lisa Jacob's has an amazing product. I'm most excited I get to use it all year! Just looking at the cover makes me feel motivated and ready to take on the world.
This is going to be a relatively short post, as I am ready to go enjoy the New Year. I hope you all have a safe holiday and a spectacular year! Merry Christmas and have a great New Year!!
